Round Metal Optical Frame
- 50 mm
- 16 g
Optical frames with plain demo lenses for your optician to glaze, screen glasses for the desk, ready readers for the sofa, a few pairs of sunglasses for outside. Three sizes of each. Lens width, bridge, temple and weight printed on every page, and nothing printed on the frame.
50 □ 21 – 145. Lens width, bridge, temple. We put them on the page instead.
Most eyewear is sold by photograph and hope. Ours is sold by the same three numbers an optician reads off the inside of a temple, plus the weight in grams and the hinge type, because those are what decide whether a frame is still comfortable at nine in the evening. Every frame comes in three lens widths – 47, 50 and 53 mm – and the fit guide shows how to read your current pair and pick the right one.
Nothing is printed on our temples. If you want the numbers, they are here.
How to read the numbersOptical, screen, readers, sun, extras. Everything in the first four comes in a round and a square.
Frames fitted with plain demo lenses, ready for an optician to glaze with your prescription.

We would rather you knew the limits before the box arrives.
Optical frames ship with clear plano lenses so you can see the shape on your face. They correct nothing. Take the frame to an optician, who will cut your prescription to the shape of the demo lens.
An anti-reflective coating and a filter that absorbs part of the blue spectrum. Less glare off a monitor, fewer reflections of the window. We make no claim about your eyes, and the coating smudges more than bare plastic.
The same power in both eyes, +1.0 to +3.0 in half steps, centres set for an average face. If your eyes differ or you have astigmatism they will tire you. If you are reaching for readers for the first time, see an optician first.
Acetate loosens in heat. Thin metal bends in a bag. Anti-reflective coatings smudge. Nylon sun lenses scratch more easily than glass. Plating wears at the nose pads after a few years. None of it is a fault; all of it is written down before you pay.
Every shape here is named for what it is – round, square, half-rim, oval – and drawn by us from the measurements up. There is no logo on a temple, no mark on a lens, no name on a case. Nothing on this site is a copy of, or a nod to, another maker’s design, and we say so in the terms as well as here.
A few frames a season. Each one was worn by six of us for a month before it got a page.
Lens width, bridge, temple, weight and hinge type on every frame. “Lightweight” and “premium” appear nowhere on this site.
A hinge that loosens, a screw that will not hold, a nylon cord that stretches or a coating that peels inside 2 years is repaired or replaced, postage on us.
Every frame in 47, 50 and 53 mm. The bridge stays the same, so a size change is a width change and nothing else.
Nothing printed on a temple, etched on a lens or stamped on a case. The three numbers you might want are on the product page instead.
When a colourway leaves the range, the last run is reduced against what it sold for over the previous 30 days. Nothing is priced up to be marked down.
“Read the numbers off my old pair, ordered the 50 mm round, took it to my optician with the demo lenses still in. She said it was the first online frame she had glazed that year that did not need bending first.”
