A small round wire reader in five powers, with spring hinges for the on-off-on-off of reading.
The same power in both eyes. Ready readers are not a substitute for an eye test. Lens guide
Choose a power before adding it.
Readers get taken off and put on fifty times a day, so these have spring hinges and a wire thick enough to take it. The lens is aspheric - thinner at the edge than a plain reading lens of the same power - and hard-coated against the keys it will share a pocket with. Five powers from +1.0 to +3.0 in half steps.
Ready readers have the same power in both eyes and the lens centres set for an average face. If your eyes need different powers, or you have astigmatism, they will not be comfortable for long and an optician's prescription pair is the answer. They are not a substitute for an eye test; if you are reaching for readers for the first time, have one.

Care. Rinse and wash with washing-up liquid, dry with the cloth. Hard-coated, but still not scratch-proof.
Worn first. Six of us wore this frame daily for a month before it was listed. The weight and the hinge type above are what we measured, not what the supplier told us.
Orders from €70,00 ship free; below that it is €4,50. Two to three working days in Finland, three to six for most of the EU.
Anything unworn, in its case, can come back within 30 days. Hinges and lens coatings are covered for 2 years. The full policy.

Measured my old pair as the fit guide said, ordered the matching size, and it sat right without a visit to the optician for bending. The weight on the page was the weight on my kitchen scales.
Second frame. The first was glazed by my optician without any fuss - she liked that the demo lens was already the right shape.
Exactly as described, including the part about the coating smudging. It does. The cloth set sorted it, but I would have liked that in bigger letters.
Ready readers come in one frame size (M) and are chosen by power. If you already own a pair that works, order the same power. If not, this is a rough starting point by age, and an optician’s eye test is the accurate one.
| Power | Typical age | Comfortable at |
|---|---|---|
| +1.0 | 40–44 | Arm’s length, a laptop |
| +1.5 | 45–49 | A book held comfortably |
| +2.0 | 50–54 | A book, a phone |
| +2.5 | 55–59 | Close print, labels |
| +3.0 | 60+ | Very close work |
Ready readers have the same power in both eyes. They are not a substitute for an eye test.
