A low rectangle with a wide lens and spring hinges, the reader with the most room to read through.
The same power in both eyes. Ready readers are not a substitute for an eye test. Lens guide
Choose a power before adding it.
A 52 mm lens that is deliberately shallow: wide enough to cover a page or a screen without moving your head, short enough to look over. Translucent mahogany or a blue-grey tortoise, both in 4 mm acetate, both on spring hinges.
Same power in both eyes, average centres, not a substitute for an eye test. A wide lens at +2.5 and above is thicker at the edge than a small round one, which shows a little. Acetate loosens in heat.

Care. Lukewarm water, washing-up liquid, the cloth. No alcohol wipes.
Worn first. Six of us wore this frame daily for a month before it was listed. The weight and the hinge type above are what we measured, not what the supplier told us.
Orders from €70,00 ship free; below that it is €4,50. Two to three working days in Finland, three to six for most of the EU.
Anything unworn, in its case, can come back within 30 days. Hinges and lens coatings are covered for 2 years. The full policy.

Measured my old pair as the fit guide said, ordered the matching size, and it sat right without a visit to the optician for bending. The weight on the page was the weight on my kitchen scales.
Second frame. The first was glazed by my optician without any fuss - she liked that the demo lens was already the right shape.
Exactly as described, including the part about the coating smudging. It does. The cloth set sorted it, but I would have liked that in bigger letters.
Ready readers come in one frame size (M) and are chosen by power. If you already own a pair that works, order the same power. If not, this is a rough starting point by age, and an optician’s eye test is the accurate one.
| Power | Typical age | Comfortable at |
|---|---|---|
| +1.0 | 40–44 | Arm’s length, a laptop |
| +1.5 | 45–49 | A book held comfortably |
| +2.0 | 50–54 | A book, a phone |
| +2.5 | 55–59 | Close print, labels |
| +3.0 | 60+ | Very close work |
Ready readers have the same power in both eyes. They are not a substitute for an eye test.
